These webinars are based upon work from COST Action Artistic Intelligence, CA23158, supported by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology).
COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is a funding agency for research and innovation networks. Our Actions help connect research initiatives across Europe and enable scientists to grow their ideas by sharing them with their peers. This boosts their research, career and innovation.

13 January 2026 – 11h30-13:00 CEST Webinar: Resilient Creativity - A Must, Not a Choice Resilient Creativity presents creative intelligence as a field-tested capability for doing serious creative work under constraint - where resources are limited, institutions are fragmented, society is structurally divided, and expectations are often low. Drawing on practice and education from a post-conflict society still rebuilding, Kenan Zekić offers a grounded lens on how creative decisions are made, how trust is built, and how meaning is produced when the system doesn’t help - and argues that resilient creativity is also the work of rebuilding the demand for quality and making outcomes matter again. It invites the Action to define “Artistic Intelligence” in a way that survives contact with reality. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 23 January 2026 - 10:30-12:00 CEST Webinar: Communication Strategies This webinar will address communication strategies within the Action, with tips and guidelines aimed at: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 17 September 2026 – 10h30-12h30 CEST Webinar: Intellectual Property Rights – Old or New Frontiers? The capabilities of the latest generative AI technologies raise challenging questions about the nature and scope of authorship, with direct consequences for human artistry and artistic research. These questions focus on the nature and extent of human contribution, how human agency is available under existing copyright principles, and whether existing laws are sufficient to address raising concerns in the artistic and cultural sector. In this Webinar, organised by the COST Action Artistic Intelligence WG4, Ilana Kunkel, Legal and Policy Officer at the European Commission will inform us on the current legal status on these issues within EU and point towards some of the remaining grey areas. There will be time for questions and comments after her presentation. Finally, as part of an ongoing mapping exercise also conducted by WG4, there will be the opportunity to raise issues of concerns on a broader basis in relation to the evolving legal landscape connected to the artistic and cultural sector – with the aim to increase awareness among international policymakers as well as across different national contexts. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 18 September 2026 - 12h00-13h00 CEST Webinar: AI, Memory and the Politics of the Archive How does artificial intelligence participate in artistic research when the archive is incomplete, displaced or deliberately constructed? In this 60-minute webinar, Melisa Kayowa and Evans Akanyijuka bring their complementary practices into dialogue. Kayowa’s Territoires tissés explores Congolese cultural memory, Kuba material culture, provenance and speculative reconstruction, while Akanyijuka’s LORAs as an Archive, A Living Archive examines photography, collaborative datasets, AI bias and generative memory. Together, they ask what machines remember, who has the authority to interpret an archive, and how artists can use—or refuse—AI responsibly. Melisa will speak in French, with real-time French-to-English translation provided. |
