We invite PhD students and early-career researchers to join the Artistic Intelligence Training School in Rome, 8-10 June 2026. This event is organised within the Working Group on Reference Frameworks (WG3) of the COST Action on Artistic Intelligence, which investigates the collective capacity of artistic and practice-based research to generate impact and value beyond the singular outcomes of individual projects. The training school takes the form of a collaborative workshop exploring how different dimensions of artistic research may intertwine, reference and influence one another. In this context, artistic practice operates transversally—as method, process, and result. These dimensions continuously inform and reshape each other, challenging the expectation that research must culminate in fixed or rigid formats. Instead, the workshop foregrounds modes of inquiry that are dynamic, reflexive, and responsive to the specific conditions, social contexts and materialities of practice. Participants will be introduced to two platforms through which they can articulate, share, and critically reflect on their research while connecting it to others: the Research Catalogue platform and the °’°KOBI system. Research Catalogue expositions function not only as presentation formats but as active sites of exchange, where ideas can be tested, reworked, and situated in dialogue. Image
In parallel °’°KOBI, a graph-based semantic mapping tool developed by the Rome Academy of Fine Arts in collaboration with Marche Polytechnic University within the Enacting Artistic Research project, will allow to reveal connections and resonances across artistic research practices. An important component of the workshop is critical reflection on both tools, examining the kinds of value they generate as well as the limitations and challenges that emerge through their use. Finally, the training school offers an opportunity to connect with emerging researchers from across the European artistic research network, hosted at the new campus of the Rome Academy of Fine Arts in Testaccio - one of Rome’s most vibrant cultural districts. The workshop will be led by Daniele Pozzi (Research Catalogue) and Andrea Guidi (Rome Academy of Fine Arts), with support by WG3 Leader Casper Schipper (Research Catalogue). Participation is free, and travel and accommodation are covered by the COST Action. We especially encourage doctoral candidates and young researchers to apply! \[apply here\]
