We are very happy to have awarded four Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) in 2026. STSMs are exchange visits that give researchers within the COST Action an opportunity to work with colleagues in another institution, share techniques and approaches, and develop skills and knowledge that may not be available at their home institution. Anthea Caddy - Referencing the Living Archive: Citation Frameworks for Practice-Based Research: A collaboration at the Lucerne School of Music exploring how living, durational and relational archives generated through artistic practice can be cited and made discoverable, with the Sounding Care archive as a case study. The STSM will also develop a Research Catalogue exposition prototype and a methodological framework for referencing living archives. Rosemary Lee - Mentorship, The School of X, Conference on Computation, Communication, Aesthetics & X (xCoAx): Taking place alongside xCoAx in Torino, this STSM focuses on mentoring students, moderating presentations, knowledge exchange and networking with international researchers. Freyja van den Boom - Synthetic Sagas: Futures of Artistic Intelligence: A research collaboration in Iceland exploring artistic research, speculative design and AI governance, culminating in a participatory workshop imagining alternative futures of AI, cultural production and governance. Luca Forcucci & Aniara Rodado - Research Trans-Species Intelligence and Embodied Cosmotechnics: A practice-led investigation of vegetal, synthetic and human forms of intelligence, bringing biomimetism, embodied cognition, physical AI and cosmotechnics into an artistic research process culminating in performance and installation.
